I used to work for a collection agency and had to learn about fair debt collection. What most do not realize is how many details and restrictions there are for collection debt in the right way. Many people think about the guy that is going to come break their legs if they do not pay a debt or call and harass them. This is not loan sharking – it is legal debt collection. The law is very strict on what a debt collector can and can not do. It is very fair to the person that owes money and it is designed with that person in mind.
A debt is a debt and people should stand by the fact that they borrowed money and should be paying it back. With the tough economic times and housing issues, more and more people are having hard times making ends meet but their are also others abusing the system. People should try to hold to what they are responsible for unless they have no other way out and that is not the case for some people.
